Currently the stats can only take stats with a boolean value. I understand that this works for soccer or hockey because you score one goal at a time but in a sports like basketball or football where you get several points at a time and over the course of the game it would be very tedious to record the stats for a given game.

Secondly, is there any way to input these value a little more quickly like by parsing some sort of txt or xml file where the rules are given and the database can just ingest the input file.
